monday morning reflection

monday capriciously conspires to unfocus the focus.

really!

frenetic. frazzled. fumbling for my keys and dropping my lunch i hurriedly dash into the

post office for my mail where i find a package from one of my oldest friends.

just holding it calms me, slows me down.

in to the brand new, not yet unpacked but having worked and produced work out of it for two weeks

studio space. i sit and carefully open the package from my friend.

inside a priority mail pack is another mail pack: carefully covered with holiday papers of red hues: i open

it to find another magnificently wrapped package. silver shimmers topped with sparkly cupcakes and a cap piece

with my name and valentine greetings written by hand.

it is my all time favorite journal in the entire world. of which i still had 5 two years ago. five left of a journal

long out of print and "not available" anywhere. i know, because i spent a total of 8 hours scouring the u.s. for the last remaining

journals left on anyone's shelves. from THAT stash i gifted my friend, certain she would love it as much as me. AND she DID.

she LOVED it so well that she saved it and sent it back to me when i am just on the cusp of running out of those fresh, colorful

pages.

i carefully unwrapped the package and stowed the paper remnants on my february 8 journal pages noting of my friend, that this

event reminds me of a very important phrase,

"how you do anything is how you do everything."

in the loving gesture my friend reminds me of so many things. most stellar among the reminders is that there is

no hurry and the confusion is an illusion. all i can do is this thing. and when i am done with this thing, i do the next thing.

i cannot walk ten steps at a time neither can i purpose to complete anything ten actions at a time. just one. after another.

and remembering this i share this story with you and i say under my breath, today's mantra:

"how you do anything is how you do everything."
